LETS GO HOME (ILEYA), 2016
All
living being had an attachment to one place or the other at any given time in
their history either a temporal or a permanent settlement. This settlement can
be as a result of social, economic, political and cultural factors. These
highlighted factors defines where we call HOME.
Worthy
of note, the saying ‘No Place Like HOME’ had an underline notion
about one’s
background i.e. family, culture and religion. This saying had been
negated/neglected by whole lot who leave their so called ‘HOME’ without
constant/irregular check-in on the happenings in the environment.
On
another ground, the saying ‘HOME is where your HEART is’. This described the
sweet memories in the land that keeps the bond strong regardless of the
distance. This can be likened to a ‘festival’. Homey’s from far (in diaspora)
and near gather up regardless of their status (social class) to rejoice and
celebrate at the designated time or season. At the end of the season, people
dispatch to their various family of procreation location within
or outside the locals.
In
this current dispensation, HOME is where one feel attachment to regardless of
the historiography of their fore fathers connection for one reason or the
other. As urbanization and globalization sets in, the bond between people
becomes weaker compared to the yester years where everybody cares for
themselves. Rather, the fleeting/nebulous relationship in the urban setting had
almost faced out the traditional realities – rituals, festival, attires,
religion and so on.
Besides,
HOME still carries much weight today regardless of the limits of people’s
orientation. Rituals, festival still thrives amongst nations of the world. On
this note, I celebrate with the Muslim fellows for their LETS GO HOME (ILEYA)
Festival. May the wind/breeze of globalization not blow away your joy in the
season.
Thanks
for your attention.

GO HOME, 2016
