WEATHER FOR "CHANGE"

Occurrences of events/happenings at any point in time had an attachment to one season or the other. It is thus an established fact across the globe that every day comprises of morning, afternoon nights. On a seasonal level, there is winter, summer and hurricane. All of the aforementioned can be cloned to the word "weather".

As there is a season for mango, there is also weather for ‘change’. Weathers generally can be cool, cold, hot and extremely burning applicable to different food items and fruits. At this juncture, it became a necessity to wonder the kind of weather is that of "change". Is it cool, cold, hot or a burning sensation? I leave you to make your justifications. To make appropriate clarification as to what category they fall to, it is expedient to reveal the change mantra across all the established social structure as experienced by the masses in Nigeria.

The experiences of people during the weather for change had been breathtaking and unbearable to any reasonable and realistic fellow. It is not an overstatement to emphasize on the worth of the naira which had been a setback on the buying and selling terms. The value of the currency had been meted with inflation amidst other criminogenic conditions. In short, the economy (and her policies) had been unfavourable to the general masses at the expenses of the few.

Politically, the weather for change have been blowing the whims and caprices of the governance to anywhere it wishes without bearing in mind the latent and manifest effect on the helpless masses. The unreasonable act of the central authority had brought about series of psychological setback – depression, trauma… to many populace with or without coping strategies.

Nevertheless, the bedrock of human society – family also suffers from this bearingless weather which sprang up divided homes; single parenthood, divorce, street children, child abuse amongst others. Without mincing word, the weather for change also breathe a breath of superiority and importance of one religion over the others. The tenacity of the weather for change if not cushioned by necessary actors can lead to a war of all against them.

All in all, this weather for change came as a shock to many people (common man in particular) due to their expectation at the time of voting.
