Eight (8) Natural Gift that Comes with Harmattan Season in Nigeria

Harmattan Gifts in Nigeria
Naturally, every 365 days has its peculiarity, depending on the month and  God's preferred timing. Such seasonal changes have different specificity, based on the region, country or the continent in question e.g. Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter and so on. However, the basic seasonal changes in Nigeria are Rainy season, Dry season and Harmattan season, which is a subunit of the dry season.

By nature, these periods come with both pleasant and unpleasant gifts for human beings irrespective of their profession or location. This is the reason human beings never stop complaining when it comes to any season. For instance, when its' the raining period they say it is disturbing their activities while the farmers amongst them would be grateful for their plants and animal. In the dry season, majority keep complaining of scorch that follows the sun. In essence, this supports the notion that human wants are insatiable.

Regardless of the human complaints, God's gift per season still continues to manifest in due time. The case of Harmattan is never an exception because its gift cannot be underestimated for human survival. Such natural gifts are;
  1. Dust
  2. Cold
  3. Cough
  4. Catarrh
  5. Sore Throat
  6. Air Condition
  7. Dryer, and
  8. Pregnancy
Now emphasize a little on each of the aforementioned effects of  weather changes.
This is simply the number one gift that comes with Harmattan season. It comes into one's apartment - room/office without given any official notice in as much as air is still in operation. In essence, clouds of dust is one thing to cope with when harmattan season arrives. The basic survival strategy here is constant cleaning and monitoring of the environment.

Cold is a usual order during the harmattan season. This is understandable because of the nature of the season. It is excessively cold for people in this season - which is why some people don't even bathe at all in the morning while some prefer to bathe with hot water and later supplement it with hot tea. Others survive by wearing sweater, socks and gloves depending on where they work and their position at those places.

Cough, Catarrh and Sore Throat
Cough, Catarrh and Sore Throat (CCS) is also a result of every harmattan season. The reason is not far-fetched because of the flying dust and excessive and uncontrollable wind. In essence, when harmattan season arrives, the three musketeers "CCS" are paramount accomplice which drugs will have little or no impact on.

Air Condition
The air during harmattan season is always conditioned with both fan and cool, but the bitter thing here is that the control button is not made available to anybody except God. My trip to Kaduna as far back in 2016 gave me a clearer picture of how air is conditioned in harmattan period differently based on locality. As at November that year, the natural air condition as a result of harmattan was High Cool in Kaduna environ while people in the South Western part - particularly Ogun were still lingering for the harmattan season with fluctuating element of its nearness.

This is another rare gift that comes specifically with harmattan season. This gift dries off vehemently anything dryable in human, plants and even animal. In human, it dries of their skin (not to death) giving them a whitening look and a wrinkled skin if adequate care is not taken. In plants, it dries off their leaf and usually leaves them with no fruit to bear. The way harmattan season deals with a human is nowhere different from its treatment of animals. During harmattan, clothes (or anything) washed out gets dried faster than the magic sunlight does.

This is basically a top priority of the list of gifts highlighted with harmattan season. In this season copulation "sexual intercourse" becomes rampant between human beings and even animals in the name of cushioning the excessive cold - just like the rainy season. As such, be cautious of your sexual actions in this season because of the cold or else pregnancy would just knock on your door.

Four Medical Conditions that Needs Constant Care than HIV/AIDS Today

Basically, the most feared virus or medical status by human existence is Human Immunodeficiency Virus and Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (HIV/AIDS) without belittling the likes of Ebola Virus, Lassa Fever, Zika Virus and lots more viruses that have rocked, shaken and threatened the continuity of human being. Regardless of these medical conditions` and its prowess, there lie four basic medical conditions that need constant care than HIV/AIDS.

The existence of these four basic medical conditions seems way older than the discovery of HIV/AIDS alongside other viral viruses/diseases, but, with adequate care, the situation can be managed, controlled and outlived. On the contrary, the lackadaisical attitude of the carrier towards the condition can only lead to sudden breakdown (leading to public disgrace at times) or a demise of the carrier prematurely or unexpectedly.

However, the basic four medical conditions described above are; Ulcer, Asthma, Diabetes Mellitus, and Rheumatism. All these medical conditions seem delicate to live with for the carrier especially when the carrier does not have the knowledge and awareness of how such can withdraw their life out of them without using an Automated Teller Machine (ATM). In essence, periodic examination/check-up is quite important for every living being to confirm their health status without living in an assumption that “all is well”.
In this case, it is quite important for all these medical conditions to be monitored and cared for in line with the prescription of the doctor – particularly on what to eat, drugs to use and not to use, situations to avoid and how best to live with the condition.

As for an ulcer patient, it is generally believed that the patient should endeavor to eat at the appropriate time of the day – early morning, afternoon and at night. Such patient is also advised not to skip meals for whatever reasons, stay away from drugs with aspirin, and also stay away from pepperish soup/stew pending the time the situation still manifests.

On a second note, Asthmatic patients is another medical condition that needs constant care more than HIV/AIDS because of its ability to seize life within a twinkle of an eye. Note, the first basic rule for an asthmatic patient that wants to live long enough is to make people around him/her aware of her condition. Although, some people will feel moving around with Inhaler and all sort of will help out.

Whichever way, it is worthy of note that the awareness of people around the carrier would aid their sustenance and survival whenever its crises occur. Also, it is always advised that carriers “Asthma” don’t stay in a stuffy or dusty arena cause of their breath. Since breath is life, it is also advised that asthmatic patient does not live or sleep alone - under any condition "good or bad". Hence, the situation needs more constant care than HIV/AIDS because the carrier might be looking healthy and still loses his/her life if proper care is not taking.
Another powerful medical condition (in fact more than the two aforementioned) is Diabetes Mellitus of any type which needs constant care more than HIV/AIDS. The major reason why this condition needs proper constant care than HIV/AIDS is that the situation comes with so many critical ailments, hypertension, high blood pressure, severe body pain e.t.c. Most diabetes mellitus patients are advised to do away with certain food combo, taking things off the mind to enable their recovery based on the drug administered unto them. In essence, it is very tasking for diabetes mellitus patient to achieve recovery without constant care and total adherence to the drugs prescribed.

Last but not the least, Rheumatism is basically not as popular as other medical conditions but it also needs constant care more than HIV/AIDS patients in surviving its crises.

How to Save People from Committing Suicide in a Breathtaking Economy

Save People from Suicide
When someone we love or acquainted with commits suicide, the most common question on our lips is 'Why did he/she do that?' especially in cases where the victim did not leave behind any clue as to the reason why. I feel our lips should be dancing not to gossips nor our assumptions as to what made the victim resort to suicide but to what we could have done to help as family, friends, neighbour or acquaintance.

Many a time, we respond to people's indirect cry for help in very harsh manner. We say things like 'If you don't like it, go and die', 'Do you feel you are the only one with problems in this world?', e.t.c. Though, those words are not intended to hurt other people's feelings but it could happen to do just that.

READ ALSO; How to Connect Speedily to Your Future
We would be surprised at how much a 'simple accidental smile' or a 'good morning', could make another person's day better. Maybe we couldn't have stopped that person from committing suicide or maybe we could have; we can never tell, but we can help by not being a part of the problem.

The harmless things to consider as a neighbour, colleague, acquaintance or friend to prevent people from taking their lives are highlighted below;
  • To that neighbour that always sit alone, pass
    How to prevent suicide
a smile each day when you walk by.
  • To that your colleague that always feel as if she can never make it through that exam, let her know that she is doing better and you believe that with a little more determination, she can compete with the best.
  • To that acquaintance always feeling left out, let him know that he is loved and cherished.
  • To that friend that feels like her life is falling apart, it is only so that a better structure would be erected and that amidst every rubble, there is always a pebble with a diamond cut.

Let's learn to always remind people of how important they are and how proud we are of them. Don't be negligent in treating others well and should we ever realize someone needs professional help, we shouldn't hesitate to direct them to people who can help and ensure they get the necessary help; because though we may not know it but we might be saving someone's life and family from grief.

How to know whether you are Underweight or Overweight??

Improving body composition is essential to developing and maintaining optimal health. To measure body composition, Body Mass Index (BMI) has been regarded as a standard means of measurement. BMI is an attempt to quantify the amount of tissue mass (muscle, fat and bone) in an individual and as a result categorize that same person as either underweight, normal weight, overweight or obese in correlation with the attained value.

BMI is therefore most common and simplest way to determine if you are underweight or overweight, as it only make use of the individual's Weight and Height. BMI is defined as follows: ratio of body weight to height²
How to measure BMI

According to this  formulae,  it is believed that  a person  with a high weight  in relation to  height has a higher BMI and vice versa. Various studies support the fact that an increased BMI invariably means an increased risk of various cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, stroke etc.

After knowing the BMI, it is necessary to  know the Body Composition Status by comparing with a standard BMI classification . The following are the current BMI classification:

Stature by BMI

Body Mass Index Classification

Like every other process, BMI has also got its limitations in the sense that it cannot be totally generalised. For Instance, muscle tissue is denser than fat which could cause an Athlete's weight to increase significantly and thereby increasing the BMI - which does not necessarily mean the athlete is overweight or obese.

Note, understanding BMI and how it relates to your health really goes a long way in helping you to understand your health status so as to maintain long term wellness.

Reasons Why President Muhammadu Buhari and co Seek Medical Care Abroad

Why President Buhari Seek Medical Care Abroad
The notion "health is wealth" is not just an assertion to the rich (as against the poor who placed survival first) but rather a do or die affair. In essence, the rich people "World Leaders", "Business Moguls", "Celebrities" (Entertainment Icon) seems to spend more money checking and rechecking their health status on a day-day basis for continuity of their lifespan. Due to the differences in the level of development across countries - such people tend to sort medical care within or outside their locals.

The case of African leaders is a pointer to the level of their structural (health in particular) imbalances which amongst other grant them the peripheral seat (as used by Immanuel Wallerstein). In simplicity, there are many developed nations of today (Cuba, America, United Kingdom, Malaysia, India, Israel...) which are way ahead of others (sub-Saharan Africa in particular) by standard of health care service and it's delivery to urban-rich, urban -poor, rural-rich, and rural-poor.

READ ALSO; Innovations Sustaining Nigerians - Diminishing Values In Return

However, Nigeria's scenario is more worrisome as majority of them (richest) sort after medical care outside Nigeria - President Muhammadu Buhari is not an exception. On a realistic note, the rationale behind President Muhammadu Buhari medical care outside the country are simply;
  • Competence Level
  • State of Health Care System
  • Trust Issues
  • Following Trends
  • Against all Odds
  • Cover his Medical History
On competence level, President Muhammadu Buhari like any other Nigerian subscribers to foreign care believed strongly the practitioners in diaspora are way ahead of their locals. Hence, the risk of managing the health issue (be it cancer, kidney problem, stroke or what have you) is at better chances than relying on the knowledge of local practitioners.
The Nigerian State of Health Care System be it private or public is nothing compared to the realities of the developed foreign nations. By standard of health care system, the concern and attention of developed nations of today is challenged at a higher level compared to that of the developing nations where they still battle with health issues conquered. Human and material resources inherent in Nigeria are mostly outdated for current practices compared to the happenings in foreign land.

On trust issues, President Muhammadu Buhari like other African leaders sort medical care in diaspora because they feel safer in the hands of foreign practitioners as against their national workers who has the tendencies of compromising on political grounds. As country's number 1, its quite risky to take risk while there are lot of options available for better and safer treatment.
Following Trends is simply subscribing to the way past leaders have done - Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, and Late Dora Akinyuli. It is therefore no excuse to elude President Muhammadu Buhari from the luxurious train.
Against all Odds is worthy of inclusion because the odds in question are strong and mighty. The Odds here are simply regarded as the likely options capable of threatening the longevity of Presidents' life. Hence, the incumbent President therefore gives no room for anything whatsoever that can scupper his existence. As regards the issue of medical history, medical care in diaspora tends to keep the details of the health issue as against the national reality.

Signs, Symptoms, and Management of Conjunctivitis (Often called Apollo)

How to Care for Conjunctivitis

The Eyes - "Window of the Soul", "General Overseer of the Body", "Key to Sail through Day and Night" for no reason can be joked with by any sensible individual. In essence, it is the most crucial of all other organs - nose, mouth, skin, ear. This bilateral organ embedded in the ventral section of the human skull is always exposed to various microbes, allergies or chemical irritants one way or the other and all of this  leads to its inflammation.

Conjunctivitis (also called pink eye in North America, madrias eye in India and Apollo in this part of the world; Nigeria) is the  inflammation of the conjunctiva which is the outermost layer of the eye and the inner surface of the eyelid.

It is believed that this infection is usually caused by  micro-organisms (bacteria, virus, chlamydial) as well  as exposure to various allergens and chemical irritants for instance cigarette smoke, dust,  perfumes, foreign body in the eye (e.g Contact lens)

In adults and children the most common organism causing pink eye is the staphylococcus aureus which is a type of bacteria. When the inflammation occurs the individual present with symptoms like redness of eye, itching, tearing, swelling of the conjunctiva as well as mucous -like discharge.
Noticeably, this infection is very contagious in nature without having to spend hours gazing into the infected eyes.

Generally, diagnosing conjunctivitis its best to put the manifestation in consideration as it gives clear idea of what is happening but in some cases more investigation is essential (for instance swabs for  microbes is taken so as to be cultured.

The best and most effective ways of preventing pink eye is hygiene and not rubbing the eyes with infected hands.  However, majority of conjunctivitis resolves without treatment but in some other cases the use of Gutt antibiotics, corticosteriods and antihistamine is essential.

Malaria: Everyday Diagnosis for an Average African Man

Malaria; Diagnosis for an Average African Man

Back to 1880, Malaria was derived from the Italian word mal'aria meaning "bad air". It was originally believed that swamp fumes in Rome were the cause of malaria, as outbreaks were a regular occurrence there. We made a little research on this infectious disease which is prevalent in tropical and subtropical areas of the world and wish to get our beloved viewers more enlightened.

Understanding Malaria
Malaria is a life-threatening blood disease caused by parasites transmitted to humans via the bite of the female  Anopheles mosquito (the only existing mosquito causing malaria).

Plasmodium parasites??
Scientists believe that more than 100 types of Plasmodium parasites can infect a variety of species but they identified the types that specifically infect humans.

Plasmodium falciparum: located worldwide  but predominantly in Africa. It kills about  1million  people every year. The type that causes most of the malaria cases in Nigeria.
Plasmodium vivax:  located  in Latin America,  Africa,  Asia.
Plasmodium ovale: located mainly in West  Africa.
Plasmodium malariae: located worldwide and it is the only human  malaria parasite  with 3day cycle.
Plasmodium Knowlesi: located  in South East Asia, it is associated  with  macaques ( a type  of monkey)

Mosquito and Malaria
Causes  of Malaria
Malaria is caused by bites of female Anopheles mosquito which then infects the body with the  parasite  Plasmodium. The successful development of the parasite within the mosquito depends on several factors, the most important being humidity, and ambient temperatures.

When an infected mosquito bites a human host, the parasite enters the bloodstream and lays dormant within the liver. For the next 5-16 days, the host will show no symptoms but the malaria parasite will begin multiplying asexually. The new malaria parasites are then released back into the bloodstream when they infect red blood cells and again begin to multiply.
Some malaria parasites, however, remain in the liver and are not released until later, resulting in recurrence. An unaffected mosquito becomes infected once it feeds on an infected individual, thus beginning the cycle again.
Signs and Symptoms of Malaria
Symptoms of Malaria
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) classified symptoms into two categories: Uncomplicated and severe malaria.
  1.  Uncomplicated Malaria: Uncomplicated malaria is diagnosed when symptoms are present, but there are no clinical or laboratory signs to indicate a severe infection or the dysfunction of vital organs. Individuals suffering from this form, can eventually develop severe malaria if the disease is left untreated, Uncomplicated malaria typically has the following progression of symptoms through cold, hot and sweating stages: Sensation of cold, shivering Fever, headaches, and vomiting (seizures sometimes occur in young children) Sweats followed by a return to normal temperature, with tiredness.
  2. Severe Malaria is defined by laboratory evidence of vital organ dysfunction. This form has the capacity to be fatal if left untreated, symptoms of severe malaria include: Fever and chills, Impaired consciousness, Prostration (adopting a prone or prayer position), Multiple convulsions, Deep breathing and respiratory distress, Abnormal bleeding and signs of anemia, clinical jaundice and evidence of vital organ dysfunction.
Malaria is usually confirmed by the microscopic examination of blood films or by antigen -based rapid diagnostic tests (RDT). In some areas, RDTs need to be able to distinguish whether the malaria symptoms are caused by Plasmodium falciparum or by other species of parasites since treatment strategies could differ for non-falciparum infections. Microscopy is the most commonly used method to detect the malarial parasite

If left untreated... It may  lead to Cerebral  malaria,  kidney  failure,  spleen and liver enlargement,  febrile convulsion, anemia  etc

Malaria is basically treated with anti-malaria which can  be given orally and via injections.  Though malaria vaccine is being worked  on at the  moment.  In some cases where dehydration is severe, hydration is very  much important

There is a significant risk of getting malaria if you travel to an affected area. It's very important you take precautions to prevent the disease. Malaria can, therefore, be avoided using the ABCD approach which stands for:
  • Awareness of risk – find out whether you're at risk of getting malaria
  • Bite prevention – avoid mosquito bites by using insect repellent, covering your arms and legs, and using a mosquito net
  • Check whether you need to take malaria prevention tablets – if you do, make sure you take the right antimalarial tablets at the right dose, and finish the course
  • Diagnosis – seek immediate medical advice if you have malaria symptoms, including up to a year after you return from traveling.

Mango Leaves: Remedy to Diabetes and Hypertension

Diabetes  and  hypertension is one of  the most  prevalent  condition  affecting  the man's health Status.. Various  researches  have  been carried  out  so as to source  out profound remedies... Through much search  and researches  the cheapest  of all ensues.

Prof. Moses Adeniji, a Consultant Plant Pathologist at the Herbal Treatment Home of Human Diseases, Orogun, Ibadan, has disclosed that mango leaves can successfully cure diabetes at the early stage.

Adeniji made this disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Ibadan on Wednesday. He said that the tender leaves of the mango tree contain “tannis”, known as “anthocyanidins’’, could treat early diabetes and some other diseases at their early stage. He said that the leaves could be dried and grinded into powder and could also be used as infusion to treat some diseases.

“The most useful parts of the leaves are the tender, reddish or purplish part, while the old mango leaves, which are dark, green in colour and with pale underside can also be dried and used. “These leaves are rich in vitamin C, B and A. They are also rich in various nutrients.

They have powerful antioxidant properties as they have a high content of flavonoids and phenols. “Mango leaves are very useful for treating diabetes; the tender leaves which contain tannins which are also called anthocyanidins, help in the early treatment of diabetes. “It also helps to treat diabetic `angiopathy’ and diabetic `retinopathy’; mango tea leaves are very good for this purpose.

“Soak the leaves in a cup of water overnight, strain and drink this tea to help relieve the symptoms of diabetes. “The leaves contain a compound called 3beta-taraxenol, and ethyl acetate extract which synergise with insulin to activate GLUT4 and stimulate the synthesis of glycogen,” he said.

The plant pathologist said that mango leaves could also be used in treating high blood pressure. He said that the leaves contain anti-hypertensive properties which help in strengthening the blood vessels and treating the problem of varicose veins.

Adeniji further said that mango leaves could also be used in treating kidney stones and gallstones, adding that the leaves could be dried, grinded and added to water, left over night. “Early morning consumption of the mixture and by the next morning could help in breaking the stones and flushing them out,’’ he said.

Adeniji also disclosed that mango leaves could cure all kinds of respiratory problems in both adults and children. “The leaves are especially useful for people suffering from cold, bronchitis and asthma.

“Drinking a decoction made by boiling mango leaves in water with a little honey added to it helps in effectively curing cough and loss of voice,” he said. He said that the mango leaves were available all year round in the country. “Using them as anti-oxidant and antimicrobial properties help treat various ailments efficiently at home,” he said.

Open Letter to All; How to Care for Your Liver

How to Care for your Liver

How LIVER functions
1.  I STORE THE IRON reserves you need, as well as a lot of vitamins and minerals. Without me, you wouldn’t have the strength to carry on!

2.   I  MAKE BILE to help digest your food. Without me, you’d waste away to nothing!

3.   I DETOXIFY the poisonous chemicals you give me, and that include alcohol, beer, wine and drugs (prescribed and over-the-counter) as well as illegal substances. Without me, your “bad” habits would kill you!

4.   I STORE ENERGY like a battery, by stockpiling sugar (carbohydrates, glucose and fat) until you need it. Without me, the sugar level in your blood would fall dramatically and you’d go into a coma!

5.  I MAKE THE BLOOD that got your system going even before you were born. Without me, you wouldn’t be here!

6. I MANUFACTURE NEW PROTEINS that your body needs to stay healthy and grow. Without me, you wouldn’t  grow properly!

7.   I REMOVE POISONS from the air, exhaust smoke and chemicals you breathe. Without me, you’d be poisoned by pollutants!

8.   I MAKE CLOTTING FACTORS that stop the bleeding whenever you accidentally prick yourself. Without me, you’d bleed to death!

9.   I HELP DEFEND YOU against the germs going into your body all the time. I take those cold germs, flu bugs and other germs you encounter, and knock them dead – or at least weaken them.

Without me, you’d be a sitting duck for every infection known to man! That’s how much I LOVE YOU….but do you love me? Let me tell you some easy ways to CARE for me, your liver!! Don’t drown me in beer, alcohol or wine.
Even one drink is too much for some people and could scar me for life Watch👀those drugs!!!

All drugs are chemicals and when you mix them without a doctor’s advice, you could create something poisonous that could damage me badly. I scar easily… and those scars called “Cirrhosis” are permanent.

Medicine is sometimes necessary. But taking pills when they aren’t necessary is a bad habit. All those chemicals can really hurt ME.

Be careful with AEROSOL sprays! Remember, I have to detoxify what you breathe in, too. So when you are cleaning with aerosol cleaners, make sure the room is ventilated, or wear a mask. That goes double for bug sprays, mildew sprays, paint sprays and all those other chemical sprays you use.

Be careful what you breathe in. Watch what gets in your skin! Those insecticides you put on trees and shrubs not only kill bugs but they can get me right through your skin and destroy my cells too. Remember, they’re all chemicals.

Cover your skin with gloves, long sleeves, a hat and mask every time insecticides are in the air or if you’re handling them.

I can’t and won’t tell you when I’m in trouble until I’m almost at the end of my rope… and yours. Remember, I’m a non-complainer. Overloading me with drugs, alcohol and other junks could destroy me! This may be the only warning sign you will ever get.

TAKE MY ADVICE PLEASE! Check me out with your doctor: Blood screening tests could identify some trouble. If I’m soft and smooth, that’s good. If I’m hard and bumpy, that could mean trouble. If your doctor suspects trouble, ultrasound and CT scans can look into it.

My life and yours depends on how you treat me Now you know how much I care for you.

Please treat me with tender loving care.

Your silent and ever-loving partner, LIVER

Bizarre Things 21st Century Folks are Celebrating Today

Insane things Globe celebrate
Let it be echoed that all living entity (nation) had a touch of madness absorbed and taken in as a lifestyle in the world today. The touch started somewhere, somehow found its way through discovery, diffusion, and culture contact into the life of people which had been passed from one generation to the other. Although there is an element of sane in their insanity the acceptability of the latter surpasses the former.

Globally, the riches of today are mostly accumulated through “insanity” which at one time been massively frowned at. What “insanity ponder in your heart? Are you lost here or kept in the dark? Are you bothered about the degree/extent of the sprawl of the global touch “madness”? Have you finally lost your mind?. Get on the track and let’s see through the insanity of today.

Insanity today can be seen in actions and reactions of people within their callings/vocations/passion. It is therefore reflective in the life of a person going against the code and conduct of his disciple cum profession. Insanity more often than not is simply the act of giving out what doesn’t add value to the human race. There are some few questions that will broaden your horizon as to the context of this piece.
  • Do you know that fashion today is insane?
  •  Can you see the insanity in music?
  • Do you feel the inappropriateness in the choice of relationship?
  • Can you account for the rate of covetousness perpetrated by an individual?.
Obviously, the lists are just endless but you need to see the insanity in fashion today - where decency is the missing link here alongside the forgetfulness of the dignity in the human body (Private-P). On the music side, have you ever thought of music today as the food to the soul? Although, good music specialists still exist but the noise makers are the order of the day. The worries of today are the lesson the younger generation are gaining from the noise makers ranging from sexual orientation, dress habits, to attitude towards life.

Moving further to the issue of choice of relationship, do imagine your inputs together MALE-MALE, FEMALE–FEMALE if it brings about anything other than a waste of time and resources. The so much claimed happiness never stand the test of time while doing it alright maketh life worth living. Although, Life itself never stops teaching - never give up learning and embrace sanity amidst your challenges.

Without mincing word, the act of being in a possession of wealth, power, fame that doesn’t benefit the human race can be seen as insanity upon insanity. This is implying the possession of public resources without utilizing it appropriately is insanity.

Above all, everything boils down to values. What are your personal values? Do not forget those values of yours are not there at birth, you acquired them from a source – family, friends, community/nation. Ask yourself, are you living in line with the acquired value? Have you substituted or changed them to suit your situation? Whichever is your answer, remember to live a sane life.

Divine Messengers' Messages to the Sick World

Divine Messages to Sick World
The irony of life remains “soldier go, soldier come”. The world had witnessed the demise of people from across the globe with a little or no significant impact. The same way people move around the world, that same way they leave (mysteriously) with or without any traces.

It is thus observed, some individual had come into the world as if they created it due to their distinctive criteria – fearlessness, utterances, actions and reactions towards issues. In simplicity, their lifestyles does not gel with that of an ordinary being because they possess and demonstrated their uniqueness on different platforms viz; music (singing/dancing), literature (poem/poetry), art/craft (drawings), public speaking (politics, economy, religion).

Above all, their impact during and beyond their existence left the world in an apologetic state. A lot had been said and done since the dawn of time which had led to restructuring of the social systems, re-orientation of human race, exposing of secrets actions cum agendas and lot more. Surprisingly, these messengers made projections for decades that are far from their demise.

READ ALSO; Bizarre things 21st Century Folks are Celebrating
Without being chauvinistic, this fellow are rare from any nations of the world – they are simply gifts to the world. The world had lost more than enough messengers from the west to the orient viz; Lucky Dube, Bob Marley, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, Chinua Achebe, Michael Jackson, Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King to mention but a few. Note, what really matter to them is the delivery of the messages even at the expense of their lives. This is why lot of them died mysteriously in the hands of fellow beings without begging to live once more.

The dead is gone leaving the planet with significant dramas to cope with. The privilege few (livings) who are as spirited as the dead or say they came from the same planet had been making waves too in their respective callings – music, poetry, governance e.t.c. At a particular time in world history, racial discrimination was the order of the day causing segregation, isolation and even bloodshed when it became violent. To an extent today, the waves had been calmed from across the globe due the actions and reactions of the divine messengers. This sole act had united the world irrespective of the colour of their skin and eye. Although, the world is still not free of discrimination reflective in diverse terrorists attack witnessed from across the globe which has been more strategic rather than what we experience on an encounter with another culture.

Nevertheless, the global village had lived through thick and thorns with or without absorbing the messages of the divine messengers. Amongst the messages of the diviners were to “Heal the World”. Obviously, the world wasn’t as sick as it is now when the message was delivered; the hardship of the economy was not at this ebb when Fela Anikulapo Kuti sang Suffering and Smiling; or when Eedris Abdulkareem sang JAGA JAGA. Surprisingly, someone in the past requested for visa when it had never been as tough as this.

What is your take on the aforementioned? The global village (structures and sectors) is definitely sick at the moment needing divine intervention for its sustenance, continuity and development.

Natural Solutions for Diabetes Mellitus (popularly called Diabetes)

Natural Solutions to Diabetes

Diabetes, also called diabetes mellitus, has become a very common health problem. There are two main types of diabetes- type 1 diabetes in which the body does not produce insulin and type 2 diabetes in which the body does not produce enough insulin or the insulin that is produced does not work properly i.e. not being able to use up excess glucose in the body.
Some of the common symptoms of diabetes include fatigue, weight loss (even though you are eating more), excessive thirst, increased urination, cut and bruises that are slow to heal and blurred vision.
While there is no cure for diabetes, with your blood sugar level under control you can live a totally normal life. There are various natural remedies for diabetes that will help you control your blood sugar level;

Diabetes Prevention Tips

Manage your weight: Excess fat, particularly stored around the abdomen, can increase the body’s resistance to the hormone insulin. This can lead to type 2 diabetes.
Exercise regularly: Moderate physical activity on most days of the week helps manage weight, reduce blood glucose levels and may also improve blood pressure and cholesterol.

Eat a balanced, healthy diet: Reduce the amount of fat in your diet, especially saturated and trans fats. Eat more fruit, vegetables and high-fibre foods.

Cut back on salt.

Limit takeaway and processed foods: ‘Convenience meals’ are usually high in salt, fat and kilojoules. It’s best to cook for yourself using fresh ingredients whenever possible.

Limit your alcohol intake: Too much alcohol can lead to weight gain and may increase your blood pressure and triglyceride levels. Men should have no more than two standard drinks a day and women should have no more than one.

Quit smoking: Smokers are twice as likely to develop diabetes as non-smokers. Control your blood pressure.

Adherence to medications
Most people can do this with regular exercise, a balanced diet and by keeping a healthy weight. Following drug regimen prescribed by your doctor helps in reducing blood glucose levels and risk for diabetes complications such as diabetes Ketoacidosis.
Worthy of note.... As you get older, it’s a good idea to regularly check your blood glucose, blood pressure and blood cholesterol levels. It keeps you abreast of your health status…

High Blood Pressure: Why Me?

High blood pressure: Why Me?

“I engage in exercise and I take low salt  diet. So why do I have high blood pressure?” Despite its astonishing prevalence, many people struggle with the diagnosis of high blood pressure, or hypertension. It’s worth exploring why, because being involved in you care is crucial for optimal blood pressure control.

Certain features make any diagnosis easier to accept: First, people are more likely to accept a diagnosis if they have symptoms . Some diseases have clear causes: Down syndrome and older maternal age, HIV infection and contaminated needles. A smoker who learns he has lung cancer may not be shocked. But non-smokers who receive this diagnosis usually ask, “Why me?”

People diagnosed with hypertension are often baffled, and many ask, “Why me?” This doubt makes sense, in light of the principles above. Symptoms make a diagnosis more real. But unlike many other illnesses, hypertension rarely causes symptoms. In fact it loves anonymity and it is ominously called the “Silent killer.”

Some people develop headaches  and generalised  malaise when their blood pressure rises into dangerous zone (systole above  140mmhg and diastole above 90mmhg), but in others, hypertension can go undetected until it causes a lethal heart attack.

Fortunately, it is easy and painless to measure blood pressure. When doctors deliver the diagnosis of hypertension, they package and fortifies it with serious complications. These include heart attack, kidney failure, and stroke. Doctors discuss the aforementioned complications to motivate their patients, but sometimes end up creating phobia instead.

Fear can lead to denial. Is hypertension serious? Yes, if left untreated. But when blood pressure is controlled, the risks are greatly reduced. The important message is that treating hypertension can prevent severe complications and add dramatically to life expectancy. knowing the cause of disease is helpful. In reality we rarely find just one cause for anyone’s hypertension.

There are almost always multiple factors at work. Some causes can’t be prevented, like genetics and age. High blood pressure often runs in families. Genetic risk is complex, probably resulting from a combination of harmful mutations in risk genes and silencing of protective genes. There is nothing we can do to change our genetics, just as we can’t stop aging. With aging comes a universal increase in systolic blood pressure (the top number) and in the risk for heart disease.

In the same vein, tackling modifiable risk factors for high blood pressure, for example, losing weight and getting more exercise, often produces great benefits. Other measures include diet management(reduced salt, fat carbohydrate and alcohol intake... increased protein vitamins and high fibre intake, self  hypnosis (resting) and regular  BP check.

Sleep; A Necessity for Healthy Living

Why Sleep is Necessary
There is nothing in life that is more valuable than a fantastic health status i.e. poor state of any of these (body, mind and soul) can warrant a threat to one's degree of happiness. Happiness is therefore far more than the luxury of life possessed by mankind whose power cannot control "sleep".

Sleep in a layman term means resting but believe me it is a little more than that. Sleep is a natural state in which the human mind and body get some rest (MIND AND BODY), the eyes is closed and consciousness is partly or completely lost meaning you are being hibernated or temporarily shut down. Naturally sleep comes with amazing benefits. Some of the benefits may surprise you

1. Less forgetfulness
Sleeping enough improves the memory and invariably you forget less. With less sleep, the brain gets tired, hence forgetting a lot.

2. Reduced emotional volatility
Sleep is vital for your emotional state. Lack of sleep causes your brain to amplify negative emotions. With enough sleep you have less chance of being emotionally inflammable and volatile.

3. Improves learning
When you sleep, you refresh your brain, increasing its capability to learn for both kids and adults. The brain learns  readily and easily when it's fresh.

4. Increased muscle building
Without sleep, muscle building is reduced. This is why sleep is a requirement in Fitness magazines.

5. Reduces headache, generalised malaise, heart complications(with sleep Blood pressure becomes normalized), diabetes (enough sleep helps the body to use up blood glucose spontaneously) and a lot more.

In conclusion, joke not with your precious 8 hours sleep as it improves your cognitive and physical functionality.... Always keep your mind and bodily state on check.
